John Molloy


John Molloy, from Birr in Ireland, studied at the DIT Conservatory of Music & Drama, Dublin and the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. In 2005 he graduated from the RNCM, receiving the college’s highest accolade for performance; the PPRNCM Diploma. John has received Awards and Bursaries from the Arts Council of Ireland, John McCormack Society of Ireland and was a major scholar of the Peter Moores Foundation from 2004 – 2006. Mr. Molloy was also a selected student of the National Opera Studio in London. Notable roles include Arthur The Lighthouse with Nationale Reisopera, Sarastro Die Zauberflöte and Leporello Don Giovanni in Ireland, Masetto Don Giovanni with English National Opera, Figaro Le Nozze di Figaro with Nationale Reisopera, and Leporello DON GIOVANNI for NI Opera. Future engagements include Budd ALBERT HERRING with the Buxton Festival, Swallow PETER GRIMES with the Teatro Comunale, Bologna, and the Messiah with the Leicester Philharmonic.

John has worked with many Opera Companies in Ireland and the UK including Opera North, Northern Ireland Opera, Lyric Opera, Opera Theatre Company, and the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company. He has also performed at the festivals of Wexford, Ryedale, Mananan, The Farmleigh Proms and the Sir Malcolm Sergeant Festival in London.

His operatic roles include Sarastro The Magic Flute, Snug A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Figaro, Dr.Bartolo & Antonio The Marriage of Figaro, Colline La Boheme, Don Alfonso Cosi fan tutte, Don Basilio Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Zuniga Carmen, Dr. Grenvil La Traviata, Il Re AIDA, Truelove The Rake’s Progress, Il Sagrestano Tosca, Tiger Brown The Threepenny Opera, Cholmondeley The Yeomen of the Guard, Timur & Mandarino Turandot, Bonze Madama Butterfly, Leone Attila, High Priest Nabucco, King of Spain in Maritana, Fr. Corrigan & O’Moore The Lily of Killarney, Devilshoof The Bohemian Girl, Count Ribbing Un Ballo in Maschera, Luka The Bear, Stravinsky’s Renard at the Southbank Centre, London, and Le Commandeur de Beaupré Le cour de Celimene.

Recent roles include Banco Macbeth for NI Opera and Dulcamara L`Elisir d`Amore for Opera Theatre Company and Nevill Holt Opera. Recent concert appearances include the Australian premiere of Van Gogh – The Opera with Crash Ensemble at the Canberra International Festival of Music, Haydn’s Creation in The Hague with Continuo Rotterdam, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Macau Orchestra and the chorus of Shanghai Opera House conducted by Tibor Bogányi, Verdi’s Requiem with the Northern English Chorale and Mendelssohn’s St. Paul with Our Lady’s Choral Society. John has also appeared with The National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, RTE Concert Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Cecilia, London Gala Orchestra, and The Goldberg Ensemble.
