Mary O’Sullivan

mary1Dublin born soprano and former member of the National Chamber Choir of Ireland, Mary studied at the DIT Conservatoire of Music, Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin, Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and completed her studies at The International Opera Studio, Zürich Opera House.

During her time at the RNCM Mary performed the role of Chloe, Pique Dame, and whist in Zurich, the roles of Miss Wordsworth, and Emmy, Albert Herring, Donna Fulvia, La Pietra del Paragone, (Rossini), Studiobühne, Zürich Opernhaus, Papagena, Die Zauberflöte and Sylvain Die Lüstige Witwe (for DVD) Zürich Opernhaus, and Manuelita, Pepito, Zürich Festspiel.

Elsewhere, Mary has performed Nedda, Pagliacci, Wexford Opera Festival, Donna Fulvia, La Pietra del Paragone, (Rossini) for Stanley Hall Opera, Queen of the Night, Die Zauberflöte, Sarganz, Switzerland, First Lady with Opera Ireland, Susanna, Le Nozze di Figaro and Berta, The Barber of Seville for OTC, Maiden and Lubanara (Cover), Der Stein der Weisen for Garsington Opera, Norina, Don Pasquale (to critical acclaim), Pepi, Der Wienerblut and performed the role of Tytania, Midsummer Nights Dream, and Blonde, Die Entführung aus dem Serail for English Touring Opera, and performed Frasquita, Carmen for Diva Opera, as well as Zerlina for Lismore Festival.

Equally at home on the concert and oratorio platform, Mary has performed with the RTE Concert Orchestra in their lunchtime recital series. Other performances include Mozart C minor Mass, Mozart Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat, Faure’s Requiem, including touring the UK and Ireland with Cabaret for OTC and Opera Ireland, a tour of the United States with Celtic Woman and a Gala Opera concert performance of Queen of the Night, Die Zauberflöte, for Diva Opera in Cap Ferrat, France.

Mary has covered and performed the role of Nanetta, Falstaff (to critical acclaim), performed the role of Elvira, L’italiana in Algeri, Valencienne, Merry Widow, several roles in the Five:15 Project including a tour to Cape Town, and covered the role of Blonde, Seraglio, and Dorinda, Orlando, for Scottish Opera. She has performed the roles of Papagena and First Lady, Magic Flute for Opera Theatre Company and recorded the lead role in Victor Herbert’s operetta “Eileen”.
